Turmeric root has been used for thousands of years and contains medicinal compounds, mainly curcumin, that make this special spice a real superfood!

Some benefits of Turmeric are:

• Anti inflammatory properties - relieves pain and swelling from injuries as well as arthritis, asthma and other inflammatory diseases, in turn, also helping to lower cholesterol levels.
• High in antioxidants
• Anti bacterial and immune boosting (great for coughs and colds)
• Analgesic properties
• Turmeric is also linked to the prevention of cancer cell growth and inhibits the growth of new blood vessels in tumours!
A real super food in my books 👌

Below is a turmeric milk recipe I often make in the evening:

Serves 2
500ml almond milk (you any milk of your choice)
2 inch piece of fresh turmeric (chopped or grated)
2 teaspoons raw organic honey
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
3-4 cloves
Small pinch black pepper (this increases the absorption of curcumin)

Heat all ingredients in saucepan while stirring or if you have a Thermomix - speed 3 until it reaches 70 degrees.
Use a strainer and pour milk into mugs and sprinkle with more cinnamon!
Enjoy!
